christmas has come and gone so quickly. back to school in 6 days. to me it seems as if the holiday this time round is so much shorter than before (probably due to O levels taking up much of november). luckily (or unluckily, as some might put it), i do not have another 3 months to slack (even that i'd probably go work). never mind. a new school year in a new environment will probably bring new challenges ahead. seriously relishing the thought of going to ACJC.
a little late, but a merry x-mas and new year to all.

oh wells. PAE2004 posting results are out. got posted to
anglo-chinese junior college. science stream. my fourth choice. pity i couldn't make it to
victoria jc. now facing the dilemma of whether to appeal or not. but the result will most likely come out negative i guess. at least its only for 3 months. hope my o level results will allow me to get into VJ. if not i'll probably see how it goes.. perhaps i should just appeal and see the result, whatever it is. there's still that faint glimmer of hope.
comments?

Arrived at Auckland at 11.30am, got out of the airport by 12.30pm after clearing all formalities. picked up the rental car (2003 Mazda 6 2.3, rego
BSA353) and drove to the hotel (Regatta Court) along Nelson St, right in town. got luggage out and placed them in room, went to factory outlet store to look at stuff and get shopping done (bought nothing =x ). shopped a while, went back to town and visited a supermarket to get groceries. then back to the hotel to catch some sleep thereafter. had a very refreshing sleep and went out to buy dinner at 9pm. walked all the way to Queen St with mom (15 mins walk one way). walked back to the hotel and retired for the night at 10pm (didn't sleep much on the plane).

Woke up bright and early to go off to the Auckland Zoo. spent much of the morning there though it was drizzling. it has a similar concept to the Singapore Zoo but totally different exhibits, with rare stuff such as red pandas. popped by the museum of transport and technology(MOTAT), and had lunch in the car courtesy of a fish-and-chips takeout after the visit. went over to MOTAT2 to view aviation exhibits. being early, we drove to the harbour to get accomodation for rotorua, thereafter driving to sumner bay and walked around, going to skycity for dinner at a foodcourt thereafter. retired at 10pm in preparation for the next day's early start.
2 Dec 2004
checked out of the hotel and moved the luggages into the car. proceeded off to rotorua via waitomo caves first. drove down state highway 1 and was amazed as the 6-lane highway became a 2-lane as we got further and further from auckland city. one hour drive down to hamilton and on state highway 3 for another 1-odd hour down to the famous waitomo glowworm caves. toured the place and set off for rotorua via highway 3, hamilton and highway 1 again. reached rotorua close to 6pm and checked into the motel for 2 nights. offloaded luggage and popped by the town centre to grab food. ended up eating chinese takeouts in the car again at the park facing lake rotorua. visited a department store where we bought some clothing (it being open late for x-mas shopping). went back to the hotel after that.
to be continued..

Hi, I'm here to help Darryl update his Blog again :) Since Christmas is coming, I'm going to share a poem reminiscent of the festive mood with all of you today.
Snow - Louis MacNiece
The room was suddenly rich and the great bay-window was
Spawning snow and pink rose against it
Soundlessly collateral and incompatible:
World is suddener than we fancy it.
World is crazier and more of it than we think,
Incorrigibly plural. I peel and portion
A tangerine and spit the pips and feel
The drunkenness of things being various.
And the fire flames with a bubbling sound for world
Is more spiteful and gay than one supposes --
On the tongue on the eyes on the ears in the palms of one's hands--
There is more than glass between the snow and the huge roses.
